Mustaches, To-Go Cups and Corn

This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Des Monies Iowa. I know what your thinking pleasure and Iowa? I never knew corn was that cool. But really, it was amazing!
I am not a world wide traveler, but I have seen a lot of the U.S., mostly the west cost. The only time I have been to the mid west was when I was 5 so you can imagine my excitement that I was going to a place I have never been. I love to travel, see new places and meet new people.
So when I first found out I was going there I got on Google and started looking for things to do (a weekend without kids I wanted to have some fun) and this came up, The Third Annual Mustache Brew Bash put on by the Des Moines Area Mustache Network D.A.M.N.

You can imagine my excitement! I always think of Iowa as being stuffy because the politicians always start their runs for election there. My first stop after I arrived at the hotel was the hotel bar of course! After a crazy day of travel I needed to have some fun. This is when I found out you can get your drinks in To Go Cups!?! (WTF, over? You can't even get a alcoholic drink to go in Vegas) Although I did not take my drink to go, I got my first experience of real Iowans and they are so friendly.
Saturday after the conference Mandi, the SSG and myself head over to Mullets Bar and Grill to have some real fun. We ate dinner in the bar then headed to the back to check out all the mustaches, listen to music and try some free locally brewed beer. Although the event wasn't as big as I thought it would be the entry fee went to the local homeless shelter, and anything that supports a charity it always a good time. As it turns out the beer was brewed by a couple of local beer entrepreneur's ( ie: 2 guys brewing beer in their garage) and was not bad, we meet some more nice people, had some really good laughs, and got a awesome t-shirt.
When Sunday came I was a little sad to leave, I wanted to see more of the area and get the full Iowa experience, but I was also excited to get back to my kids! I left them with Grandpa and well it's Grandpa and I was a little worried if my house was still standing.
I have some majorly AWESOME crafts planned and am going to share how I make them with all of you!
